L’OBSERVATEUR’s 2017 All-St. John Parish Boys Soccer Team

The members of L’OBSERVATEUR’s 2017
All-St. John Parish Boys Soccer Team are:
Jeffrey Cupit, St. Charles Catholic, Sr. — A midfielder, Cupit was a first team All-District selection with 12 goals and eight assists.
Brandon Lemoine, St. Charles Catholic, Sr. — A team leader and organizer, Lemoine finished the season with six goals and four assists.
Andrew Rodrigue, St. Charles Catholic, Sr. — He was the Comets’ playmaker this season, leading the team in scoring and also helping on defense. He was the District’s Offensive Most Valuable Player.
Evan Simoneaux, St. Charles Catholic, Sr. — A fifth year player on the team, Simoneaux’s job was to guard his opponent’s best player. The coaches selected him the District 6-IV Defensive Most Valuable Player.
Matthew Templet, St. Charles Catholic, Sr. — The Comets goalkeeper returned from a brutal injury at the end of 2016, overcame another injury and was named the overall MVP of District 6-IV by the coaches.
Trace Tassin, Riverside Academy, Sr. — A forward, Tassin was a four-year starter and team captain. He finished the season with seven goals.
Hardell Mack, Riverside Academy, Sr. — A first-year soccer player, Mack brought his football defensive skills to the soccer field and was named to the All-District team.
Colton Wilson, Riverside Academy, So. — A midfielder, Wilson tied for second in goals scored with five. Coach Jonathan Reed said Wilson is “one of the most skilled players in the parish.”
Ryan Denet, East St. John, Sr. — A sweeper and middle defender, Denet had “blazing speed” on the field this season, according to Coach Paul Dupuy.
Jaddan Diaz, East St. John, Sr. — An All-District selection, Diaz was the Wildcats’ main stopper this season until a separated shoulder cut his season short.
Aldo Reyes, East St. John, Sr. — The District 5-II Offensive MVP for the second year in a row despite scoring fewer goals (10) against tougher opponents.
Player of the Year — Matthew Templet, St. Charles Catholic
Offensive Player of the Year — Andrew Cupit, St. Charles Catholic
Defensive Player of the Year — Evan Simoneaux, St. Charles Catholic
Coach of the Year — Sean LeBlanc, St. Charles Catholic
