EDGARD — The 2015 armed robbery of a pizza man in Reserve led to jail time, according to the St. John the Baptist Parish Clerk of Court’s Office.
Dequinton Davis, 18, pleaded guilty last month to first degree robbery and, according to the Clerk’s office, was sentenced to four years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections, with credit for time served since March 31, 2016.
The St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office announced Christopher Davis and Dequinton Davis turned themselves in to deputies March 31, 2016, each surrendering on principal to armed robbery with a firearm charges.
Their arrests came four days after the Sheriff’s Office publicly identified the suspects, who they said were brothers.
Deputies began investigating the case Aug. 29, 2015, after responding to River Pointe Drive in Reserve, where a 19-year-old male victim told deputies he was making a pizza delivery when two men robbed him at gunpoint.
“They took the pizza order and the cash from the victim’s wallet,” Sgt. Dane Clement previously said.
“He was not injured. The victim said that he exited the truck with the order when the two perpetrators approached him. One perpetrator pointed a handgun at the victim and told him to drop the pizzas and to empty his wallet.”
Police said after the victim complied with demands, the gunmen fled on foot with the pizza and cash from the victim’s wallet.
Police obtained arrest warrants for Christopher Davis and Dequinton Davis in February 2016.
St. John Parish District Attorney Bridget A. Dinvaut said her office abandoned charges against Christopher Davis, 21, last month after the Court ruled there was not enough probable cause presented by authorities following his arrest.
