Injuries, home damage reported in St. James tornado

LEMANNVILLE — The St. James Parish Office of Emergency Preparedness received notification of a possible tornado in the Lemannville area near the Sunshine Bridge at approximately 11:20 a.m. today (Feb. 7).
Emergency responders are on the scene, parish officials said, and continue to assess damage and injuries.
Two people sustained minor injuries. Three homes sustained major damage. Power outages are being reported from Communi Street along River Road in St. James and going North to the parish line.
St. James Parish officials have been in contact with the National Weather Service and the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security. Residents can report any damage by calling 225-562-2200.
