Top spellers celebrated

The St. John the Baptist Parish Public School District held its District Spelling Bee Jan. 25 and 26.
Students had to first win at their school level to advance to the district competition.
First grade winners are, front row, from left, Tatyana Gross, first place; Da’Nyrie Harris, second place; and Addisyn Alleyne, third place. School level winners were, back row, Penelope Washington, Terrance Russell, Dana Harris, Davaughn West and Casey Crane.
Second grade winners are, front row from left, De’Kyra Jackson, first place; and Jaz Thompson, third place. School level winners were, back row, A’Nyri King, Kaci Frank, Jaycee Robinson, Dagmawi Tilahum and Tatum Davis.
Winners in third grade are, front row, from left, Theron Gross, first place; Derion Melancon, second place; and Shelby Defiel and Malik Whitfield, third place. School level winners were, back row, Emiliano Pina, Chaela Alexander, Oscar Carrera and Tre’Von Octave.
