LAPLACE — A local man was arrested this week, accused of sexually assaulting a minor.
According to the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office, 44-year-old Lewis Giles of LaPlace was arrested Wednesday for having inappropriate sexual contact with a minor.
Deputies responded to the 700 block of Lafayette Drive in LaPlace at about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday after it was reported Giles inappropriately touched a juvenile in his home.
Giles was arrested and booked with molestation of a juvenile and simple assault following an investigation, authorities said.
Giles posted a $51,500 bond Thursday and was released from custody.
“Further details regarding the incident, as well as the victim’s age and gender, are being withheld to protect the identity of the victim,” a Sheriff’s Office release said.
