MT. AIRY — Students had the opportunity to engage in science, technology, engineering and math alongside their families during the St. John the Baptist Parish Public School District’s Family STEM Night.
The Oct. 13 event at Garyville-Mt. Airy Math and Science Magnet School allowed students from the district’s elementary and high schools to lead experiments and activities for other students and for businesses and nonprofits with STEM ties to engage students in what they do.
The annual event allows the school district to showcase the opportunities that exist in STEM to students and their families while showcasing what it is doing to prepare its students for a future in STEM-related careers.
The guest speaker for the event was Dr. Eric Griggs of STEM NOLA, an organization dedicated to exposing, inspiring and engaging communities in science, technology, engineering and math.
