LAPLACE — An alarm and quick-responding deputies thwarted a medical office robbery last week in LaPlace, authorities said.
St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office Deputies arrested Matthew Fobb, 24, of Destrehan at approximately 10 p.m. Sept. 28 after responding to a burglar alarm at a medical office in the 300 block of Rue De Sante.
Sheriff Mike Tregre said Fobb admitted to deputies he committed the crime.
Fobb is booked with simple burglary and simple criminal damage to property.
He remains in custody in lieu of a $23,500 bond.
Tregre said deputies on the scene saw Fobb exit the building and detained him at the location.
Nothing was reported missing, authorities said.
The initial investigation indicated a cement pot was used to smash a glass door and windows to gain access in the building, Tregre said, adding the security system panel was ripped from the wall during the burglary.
