LAPLACE — The St. John the Baptist Parish Public School District is inviting the public to take a look inside today’s public schools with a series of Patron Tours.
The first tour will take place Sept. 21 at East St. John High School. A light breakfast begins at 8 a.m., with the program following from 8:30 to 10 a.m.
During the visit, community members will be able to visit classrooms, learn about what goes on inside St. John the Baptist Parish Public Schools and get answers to any questions they may have about what they see.
Superintendent Kevin George said the goal is to allow everyone to experience the culture and climate of St. John the Baptist Parish Public Schools.
“Schools don’t look the same as some of us remember them when we were growing up,” he said. “These tours will give the community the opportunity to visit with the administration and tour each campus to get a firsthand look at what education looks like today in our public schools.
“Many changes have occurred over the years and we want the public to understand what it has taken to become a B-ranked school system.”
You can RSVP your attendance at swaller@stjohn.k12.la.us or 985-536-1106.
The school district plans to conduct a Patron Tour each month at a different school.
