Poche’: Libraries pack fun August lineup

The Summer Reading Program is coming to an end for St. John the Baptist Parish Libraries.
During the last week, there will be fun and interesting programs.
The Garyville Library will host a “Watermelon Craft” Monday at 3:30 p.m.
The Edgard Library will have a “Movie and Game Day” Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.
The Central Library is hosting an “Ice Cream in a Bag Craft” Wednesday at 2 p.m.
The Reserve Library will host a “Tailgating Event” Thursday at 5 p.m.
All branches will have sack races and hula-hooping for children and parents during the events. The Chill Sensations mobile snowball truck will be at all four events giving free snowballs to attendees.
August will be an exciting time to attend St. John the Baptist Parish Libraries. The Central Library will host a Home Canning Planning program for patrons looking to preserve vegetables and fruits Aug. 6 at 6:30 p.m. All adults are welcome to attend this unique program.
The Book Lovers Book Club will meet for their monthly meeting Aug. 9 at 6:30 p.m. A new program called Healthy Living for the Elderly will take place every Thursday at 10 a.m., starting Aug. 11.
Reading! Rhythm! Readiness! will be held every Wednesday at 10 a.m., starting on Aug. 17 for children between 3 and 5. Tots and Toddlers will be held on every Friday, starting Aug. 19 for newborns to children 3 years of age.
A Ring Button Craft will be held Aug. 19 at 2 p.m. Kreative Kidz will be held Aug. 20 at 10 a.m. for toddlers and their parents to attend and enjoy. Adult Coloring is new to the Central Library and will be held Aug. 23 at 6:30 p.m.
The Reserve Library will host an Ask-A-Lawyer Clinic Aug. 4 at 10 a.m. Walk-ins are welcomed to attend this two-hour event.
The River Readers Book Club will meet for their monthly meeting Aug. 4 at 6 p.m. The monthly Make Shoppe will be held Aug. 8 at 6 p.m. Patrons will be making personalized wine glasses. Registration is required for this program.
A new Morning Movie Matinee will be held Aug. 10 at 10 a.m. All adults are welcomed to these programs.
The Garyville Library will host its Tablet/E-Reader Tutoring Aug. 12 at 4:30 p.m. and Adult Coloring Aug. 19 at 2 p.m. The Edgard Library will host The Right Stuff every Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. and Computer Classes with Carlos every Thursday at 11:30 a.m. All adults are welcomed to these programs.
