2 teens arrested, linked to gun burglary at State Trooper’s home

DESTREHAN — Two teenagers, one only 14-years-old, have been arrested in connection with the burglary of a Louisiana State Police trooper’s home, netting the assailants an assortment of guns and collectable coins.

St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office officials said Monday afternoon that the guns have not been recovered.

Authorities reported Dillyn Austin, 18, of Destrehan, is charged with simple burglary and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.

A 14-year-old male juvenile from Destrehan was also arrested and charged with simple burglary, possession of a firearm by a juvenile and obstruction of justice.

Some property has been recovered, authorities said

The home of the Louisiana State Trooper on River Point Drive in Destrehan was burglarized by forced entry overnight July 12 .

Multiple firearms, a PlayStation 4, two small safes, a Super Bowl XLVII State Police Badge, a 50-year Commemorative State Police Badge, money, two iPhones and assorted collectible coins, including an F15 Air Force Anniversary Coin and a Lady Liberty Coin, were stolen.

Sheriff Greg Champagne said there is an ongoing investigation and anyone with information on the burglary is asked to contact Detective Jennifer James or Lieutenant Derek Pertuis at 985-783-1135 or 985-783-6807.
