Poche’: St. John the Baptist Parish libraries prepare for July full of activities

St. John the Baptist Parish Library System’s Summer Reading Program is in full swing.
There have been performers, crafts, story times and lectures done at each library branch for patrons of all ages. The program will continue throughout July, with more special guests and one-of-a-kind activities.
July performers include Matthew Noel and Toni B.
Matthew Noel is an entertainer who artfully brings his stage show to audiences of all ages using magic, yo-yos, juggling and comedy. He performs at 10:30 a.m. July 1 at the Edgard library and at 2 p.m. at the Central Library for 2 p.m. His hope is to inspire kids to follow something they love, do it with passion and share it with others.
Toni B is a Young Audiences educational performer who will bring her styles of dancing to the libraries. She has traveled the globe wowing audiences with steps from the old world to modern dances. Her performances will be held at 1:30 p.m. July 12 at the Reserve library and 4 p.m. July 12 at the Garyville Library. She will also perform 1:30 p.m. July 15 at the Edgard library and 4 p.m. July 15 at the Central Library.
The Central Library will continue to host Walkout with Your Friends for all adult patrons, a weekly program offered at the library every Wednesday in July at 10:30 a.m. Travel the World in a Book, a new adult program, will be held at 10 a.m. July 21.
Other adult programming will feature the Book Lovers Book Club on July 12 at 6:30 p.m., the LSU Ag Center’s Exercise Class on July 18 at 10 a.m. and a Healthy Stir Fry Demo on July 27 at 9 a.m.
Tweens and teens will make Tie Dye Socks on July 12 at 6 p.m., enjoy conducting different crafts on every Wednesday in the month, make Embroidery Earphones on July 19 at 6 p.m. and Turkey Bowl on July 26 at 6 p.m. Children’s programming will include Fit Kids, which is held every Monday at 5:30 p.m., Reading! Rhythm! Readiness! every Wednesday at 10 a.m., Books and Beyond every Thursday at 5:30 p.m. and Tots and Toddlers, which is held every Friday at 10:30 a.m. Other children programming will include Crafting with Toddlers on July 23rd at 10 a.m.
The Reserve Library will host its monthly Make Shoppe program for adults July 11 at 6 p.m. They will also host their River Readers Book Club July 9 at 9:30 a.m., exercise class Walk to the Beat July 20 at 11 a.m. and lecture “Understanding Adverse Childhood Experiences” July 22 at 3:30 p.m. for adults.
Tweens and teens can partake in an Anger Management lecture July 7 at 10 a.m., a Wii Play Just Dance Competition July 13 at 2 p.m., Puzzle Monograms July 14 at 6 p.m., and Cookies and Canvas July 21 at 6 p.m. Children’s programming includes Library Cinema July 5 at 1:30 p.m., The Organ Wise Guys on July 6 at 10 a.m. and a Summer Reading Tailgate Party July 28 at 5 p.m.
The Garyville Library will host Tablet Tutoring July 29 at 2 p.m. for adults only. Tweens and Teens will have fun making Elastic Geometrics July 8 at 3 p.m., T-Shirt Tote Bags July 14 at 3 p.m. and Happy Trail Mixing July 18 at 4 p.m. Children’s programming includes Popsicle Stick Flags July 1 a 2 p.m., Pajama Evening Storytime every Thursday at 5 p.m., Kitty Gami July 21 at 3 p.m. and a Watermelon Craft at 3:30 p.m. July 25.
The Edgard Library hosts The Right Stuff every Wednesday at 1:30 p.m., Computer Classes every Thursday at 11:30 a.m., Beach Read July 19 at 3:30 p.m. and Summer Blockbuster on July 26 at 2:30 p.m. for adults. Tweens and Teens will have fun at the Tween Scene every Thursday at 3:30 p.m. and making Water Bottle Wind Spirals on July 5 at 10 a.m. Children programming will consist of Reading! Rhythm! Readiness!, which is every Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
