Reserve man arrested after 15-year-old raped, police say

RESERVE — A Reserve man was arrested, charged with raping a 15-year-old girl, authorities said.

St. John the Baptist Parish deputies arrested Devin Tyler, 21, May 25, for an alleged assault that took place more than four months ago.

Detectives began their case Jan. 25, responding to the Ochsner Health Center – River Parishes emergency room for a rape report.

The mother of a juvenile reported a male acquaintance of her daughters raped the teenager two days earlier when she was visiting the mother’s older daughter’s residence.

A release from the Sheriff’s Office said authorities identified Tyler as the perpetrator and arrested him May 25. Tyler, according to authorities, cooperated with detectives and gave a statement to regarding the reported assault. Authorities did not say what the statement entailed.

Tyler was booked with felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile. As of Tuesday morning, Tyler was still being held in lieu of a $75,000 bond.
