St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff Mike Tregre placed Barry Conner II, 23, on indefinite suspension subsequent to his arrest in St. Charles Parish Wednesday morning.

Conner holds the rank of deputy and is assigned to the Corrections Division.

He started with the Sheriff’s Office in August.

According to the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office, a deputy conducted a traffic stop at approximately 1:17 a.m. Wednesday on a vehicle with a passenger headlight out.

Further investigation revealed the driver, identified as Conner, to be in possession of marijuana, cocaine and a Glock handgun.

Conner of LaPlace was arrested for possession of marijuana, possession of crack cocaine, use of a firearm in the presence of a controlled substance and vehicle required headlights.

Conner is being held at the Nelson Coleman Correctional Center on a $25,000 bond.

St. Charles Sheriff’s Office Captain Patrick Yoes said there was another passenger in the vehicle with Conner, but that individual was not arrested.
