On a beautiful sunny morning, the group was greeted by cheering crowds at schools along the route, including John L. Ory Magnet, East St. John High, Lifehouse, St. Peter and Riverside Academy.

Deputy Cindy Faucheux, an event organizer, said this year’s run was successful with a record 60 plus participants.

St. John officers joined other law enforcement officers and residents in carrying the Flame of Hope, culminating with lighting of the cauldron to officially open the Special Olympics Louisiana Summer Games next week at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond.

After the run May 6, a social was held at Frenier’s Landing in LaPlace.
