RESERVE — Donna Perrilloux has experienced the effects and trauma tornados can bring.

She remembers going through a tornado with her family when the whole house was lifted from its foundation and placed on some train tracks.

She understands what many St. John the Baptist Parish residents are going through after the Feb. 23 tornado, which is why she is having a free clothing giveaway from 11 p.m. to 4 p.m. everyday through Sunday at her ministry, D.M.P. International Prayerline Outreach, located at 130 W. 7th St. in Reserve.

Those impacted by the tornado are welcome.

Perrilloux said organizers started receiving truckloads of supplies Feb. 28 from an effort put on by the St. John Faith-Based organization.

Since then, organizations and individuals from places such as New Orleans, Chalmette, Gonzalez, Baton Rouge, Slidell, Vacherie have contributed, Perrilloux said, adding the FBI even donated items.

“We have everything,” Perrilloux said. “We have suits, linens, underwear, pants, shoes, blankets, T-shirts, toys for children, school supplies and more. That is just a lot, it’s an overflow over everything.”

There are also items like detergent and other cleaning supplies.

“I do an outreach to the community twice a month,” Perrilloux said. “I haven’t done a widespread one like we are doing now. People don’t need to call ahead; they can just come. We have everything displayed with the sizes. Things are boxed up and ready for people to pick them up. Beautiful things have been given by people.”
