DESTREHAN — The Destrehan High School Talented Theatre Department is presenting Romeo and Juliet with a New Orleans twist at 7 p.m. nightly March 10 and 11 at the school auditorium.

Organizers said theater members and Drama Club students are working tirelessly to prepare for the production.

Students have been collaborating to create the different elements that bring a production together, including sets, costumes, lighting and sound design.

In addition to the technical elements, the cast has worked hard to master delivery of the Shakespearean language.

To make the production a more audience accessible, organizers said the show is set in New Orleans in the late 1950s, complete with live music and Roman Candy.

The general admission price is $10, and students with an ID can enter for $5.
