Hurricane Junior Golf Tour coming to LaPlace March 19-20

LAPLACE — The largest junior golf tour in the United States is coming to LaPlace next month, and all local junior golfers are invited to play.

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour will host a Major Championship March 19-20 at Belle Terre Country Club. It is one of 10 such events to be played throughout the country in 2016 with the goal to provide junior golfers a chance to play and compete on exceptional courses.

The local event is open to all golfers between the ages of 8 and 18. The cost is $195 for members of the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour and $245 for non-members.

The competition is divided into six divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys 10-under, Girls 14-18 and Girls 13-under. The tour allows youngsters to compete earn points toward an end-of-year Junior Golf Scoreboard national rankings.

Winners in each division will receive an invitation to the 2016 Tour Championship to be played Dec. 3-4. The top three finishers in each division receive an invitation to the 2016 Mid Season Invitational to be played June 11-13 at Chateau Elan in Atlanta.

Top 20 finishers receive points towards year-end honors, which include state teams, Hurricane Golf Tour teams and the Hurricane Cup.
