Catholic Schools’ Week offers time of celebration

LAPLACE — To celebrate Catholic Schools’ Week, St. Joan of Arc Catholic School hosted the Regional Catholic Schools’ Week Mass for schools in its deanery: St. Peter, Our Lady of Grace, Ascension of Our Lord and St. Charles Catholic.

Principal Jeffrey Montz presents a plaque to Emma Meneses for being chosen 5th Grade Student of the Year. Emma has been attending SJA since she was in PK4 and has been involved in volleyball, biddy basketball, cheerleader and altar server.  Emma said her parents and grandparents help remind her hard work pays off. Emma enjoys reading and playing outside.

Breakfast with Moms was held on a Tuesday morning, and Breakfast with Dads on a Thursday morning.

On Friday, the closing Mass of Catholic Schools’ Week was celebrated.

At the conclusion of the mass, awards for the 5th Grade Student of the Year (Emma Meneses), Distinguished Graduate (Marcie Hebert) and Distinguished Service (Steven and Marie Turner) were presented.

As they left Mass, students received bag tags reminding them of the Year of Mercy as proclaimed by Pope Francis.

Students also enjoyed snacks at recess time on Friday to celebrate their Catholic education.
