LAPLACE – The woman whose body was found floating in the Mississippi River at the Convent Marine Terminal on the morning of April 10 has been identified as 42-year-old Karen Bergeron of Denham Springs.

According to the St. James Parish Sheriff’s Office, several witnesses saw Bergeron jump from the Interstate 10 Mississippi River Bridge in West Baton Rouge Parish early Tuesday morning.

St. James Parish Sheriff Willy Martin Jr. said deputies were called out early Thursday morning about the floating body and that St. James Parish deputies immediately began searching through missing persons reports in attempts to identify the woman.
