1 arrested after man shot in neck in Edgard

EDGARD — A shooting outside a popular Edgard nightspot left one man with a gunshot wound to his neck and another in jail.

The shooting occurred Sunday night in the 200 block of East 6th Street.
“It’s a popular area,” St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Dane Clement said. “There is a local lounge there. The shooting occurred in the street.”
Authorities are not releasing details of their invesitigation.
“We normally don’t discuss motives while doing the investigation,” Clement said. “Our main goal is to get a successful prosecution so any investigative things regarding the investigation we don’t really talk about.”
Authorities said Corey Bartholomew, 25, of Edgard turned himself in to detectives Monday at the Criminal Investigations Division.
He is facing aggravated battery with a dangerous weapon and three counts of aggravated assault with a firearm charges following the shooting.
Clement said Bartholomew has not been cooperative with the investigation.
Bartholomew is still in jail with a bond set at $200,000.
Authorities said no other suspects are being sought at this time.
The arrest follows the shooting that left a St. Charles Parish man with a gunshot wound to his neck, Sheriff Mike Tregre said.
Deputies located the victim, described as a 26-year-old Killona man, at a residence in the 200 block of East 14th Street in Edgard.
Emergency medical services took the victim to a New Orleans-area hospital for treatment. The victim’s current condition is unknown. The second location where the victim called authorities to alert them about the attack was not his residence.
“I don’t know the relationship of (the victim) and the owner of the residence,” Clement said. “I don’t know what tied him there.”
