ST. JAMES, LA — St. James High School is one of Thirty-nine Louisiana high schools recognized by U.S. News and World Report as the country’s Best High Schools, by receiving a bronze medal ranking.

School Evaluation Services, a K-12 education data research business run by Standard & Poors, developed the criteria U.S. News and World Report used to analyze academic and enrollment data from 21,069 schools using 2006-2007 information. The report is based on key principles that “a great high school must serve all its students well, not just those who are bound for college and that it must be able to produce measurable academic outcomes to show that the school is successfully educating its student body across a range of performance indicators.”

“I think it is a tremendous honor for our school to be recognized as a bronze medal school in the U.S. News and World report’s during the 2006-2007 cycle.” SJHS Principal Harry Francois said. “It is a testament of the commitment our staff has to the students at St. James High. This achievement also recognizes the outstanding efforts put forth by our students and parents.”

“More importantly it sets a bar of success for our students to follow as well as presenting the challenge of striving for even more academic success. We cannot be totally satisfied when there are the silver and gold standards that have not been met. However, we can be confident in knowing that we are heading down the correct path.”
