Led by Brooke Becker’s 26 points, seven St. Charles scorers lifted the Comets to their fifth win of the season on Friday as SCC defeated Reserve Christian, 50-25 at SCC.

It was the second meeting between the nearby schools in under a week’s time. The Comets (5-2) won the first matchup 52-25.

Kacie Braud scored six points and four others — Dominique DiCarlo, Emily Picciola, Heather Orillion and Caitlin Jacob — added four points. Rachael McNulty scored two to round out the Comet scoring.

For SCC coach Nolan Louque, its a sign that the Comets are beginning to get the offensive support it needs around Becker, the team’s top scorer.

“I think the team’s starting to gel,” Louque said. “It was good to have production across the board like that.”

Reserve (2-7) scored the first four points of the game before SCC rattled off 20 straight points to pull comfortably ahead.

The Comets led 22-4 after the first quarter and 32-12 at halftime.

St. Charles players recorded 10 steals led by Becker’s three and DiCarlo’s two.

“We pressured them into some turnovers,” Louque said.

Becker also recorded eight rebounds. DiCarlo and Jacob added seven each.

Louque says he learned a lot about his team within the last week, even in the team’s only two losses this season, each coming at the Battle on the Bayou tournament at the Alario Center.

“We played some teams that were bigger and better,” said Louque. “But the thing I liked is that our team doesn’t quit. If they’re up 15 or down 15, they’ve got a willingness to keep going. As a coach, you’ve got to like that.”
