Riverside and Independence were engaged in a defensive struggle on Wednesday night, and final score reflected it fittingly.

The Rebels and the Tigers finished play locked in a 0-0 tie at Riverside, the second tie RA has played to this season.

“We were close,” said Riverside Coach Stephen Millet. “I felt like we had the edge. It was right in front of us to take, but we just couldn’t find a way. Every shot just seemed to be going a little wide here, or a pass was off there.”

Defensively, there was little to find fault with for the Rebels (0-1-2), who aside from a 9-0 loss to Lusher have held two opponents to one goal.

“I think we’re definitely improved,” said the Rebels’ Nick Moock. “We were able to keep it on their side of the field and keep our energy up.”

Moock says that keeping the ball away from the opposition is an area the Rebels have come a long way in.

“We’re controlling the ball much better now,” Moock said. “We’re learning to pass more effectively and getting better shots.”

Riverside will host St. Amant Tuesday at 6 p.m.
