One of my favorite songs is Amazing Grace.

Whenever I have a Get High on Life function, I always ask Deputy Mike Hoover to close and sing that song.

Grace is a word I’ve heard all my life.  I understood it a little more when my daughter Ronny, after being healed of leukemia, got pregnant.

She had been given 15 rounds of chemotherapy in 11 months.  When the doctors found out she was expecting, they seemed surprised because of all the treatments she had received.

She delivered a healthy baby girl and named her Victoria Grace.  Ronny said because of God’s faithfulness, it would always be a reminder of the victory we have in Christ and that His Grace is sufficient to meet all of our needs.

Victoria will be a junior at Nicholls State University next year.  She is truly a miracle!

Sunday, the message at church was about the Grace of God.  The pastor shared from Ephesians 2:8 — “For by Grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is a gift of God.”

Grace is a free gift.  The only thing we have to do is accept it through faith.  It is the only way to be saved and by God’s Grace, we are also set free.

The pastor explained that Grace is unmerited favor.  There’s nothing we can do to earn it and as Ephesians 4:9 states: “Not of works, lest anyone should boast.”

It’s nothing we do; it’s a gift from God.

God rewards those who seek Him, not those who seek doctrine or religion or systems or creeds.

Grace – unlimited favor – what a gift!
