This year marks the 30th anniversary of the murder of Dr. Martin LutherKing Jr. at a motel in Memphis, Tenn. At the time, not so many people fullygrasped his impact on the movement for racial equality and justice underlaw. In the years since, his impact and example continues to illustrate thevalue of non-violent resistance.

His message was one of peace and love and regarding your fellow humanbeing as valuable and necessary. Violence was not a part of his credo, norwas division of any sort. He took the example of Christ to heart in hismessage to the people.

King did not only preach to black persons but to all people, giving amessage that every person deserves respect, dignity and justice. Thismessage continues to be spread as the years go by, thankfully into thecoming generations.

Is racism lessening in America? It depends upon who you ask. However,the solution is out there, through the teachings of Dr. King who, after all,was a carrier of the message of Christ. The solution, as King taughteveryone, is Christ.
