Lady Eagles complete undefeated district season

RESERVE – The Reserve Christian Lady Eagles capped off their first season in the Louisiana High School Athletic Association by claiming the District 5-V title with an undefeated record with two wins this week.
Reserve Christian extended its winning streak to six games with a 15-11, 15-10 victory at home against Faith Christian Thursday afternoon. TheLady Eagles had clinched the district title with 15-9, 15-4 victory over Lynn Oaks, coupled with McGehee’s 15-13, 3-15, 15-13 upset of Faith Christian, Tuesday afternoon.
Reserve Christian, 14-3 overall and 6-0 in district play, will compete in the state volleyball tournament at the Pontchartrain Center in Kenner for the first time Thursday. The Lady Eagles, as the first place seed in thedistrict, will play the second place team in District I-V, Central Catholic of Morgan City, at 10:15 a.m.”I am looking for them to really be hungry and make history,” Reserve Christian coach Mike Marix said of the team making its first appearance in the state playoffs.
Against Faith Christian, Summer Vicknair led the Lady Eagles with four aces. Ashley Holmes had a game-high 20 kills and also provided topdefense.
Angie Tucker had six aces and also provided top defense for the Lady Eagles against Lynn Oaks. Holmes had a game-high six kills.”We did well as far as not putting ourselves in any big holes and falling behind early,” Marix said. “I thought we played well.”Faith Christian and McGehee held a playoff game Friday to determine the second place team in District 5-V.
LUTCHER ADVANCES TO STATE PLAYOFFS – The Lutcher Lady Bulldogs advanced to the state volleyball tournament with a 15-12, 12-15, 15-12 victory at home against Plaquemine Thursday evening.
The Lady Bulldogs, 12-11 overall and 4-2 in District 5-III, will enter the tournament as the second-place team in the district. E.D. White capturedthe district championship with a 6-0 record in district and a 29-8 overall record.
Lutcher will play the champion of District 2-III in the bi-district playoffs Thursday at 9 a.m.LADY CATS CAP OFF UNBLEMISHED DISTRICT SEASON – The East St.
John Lady Cats finished the District 8-I season undefeated for the second straight year and ran their district winning streak to eight games with a 15-8, 15-5 victory at Hahnville Tuesday afternoon.
East St. John, 17-11 overall and 4-0 in district, will play the District 7-Irunner-up in the state volleyball tournament Wednesday at 3:15 p.m.Theresa Cambre had two aces for East St. John in the win. Maria Lainez hadsix kills while Tammy Gunter provided top defense. For Hahnville, FallonCancienne served a game-high six aces. Jackie Whitmer delivered six killswhile Colleen Lockhart provided top defense.
