LULING – The St. Charles Parish School Board and Superintendent RodneyLafon recognized students and employees of the school system for their achievements at the board’s meeting Tuesday night.

Recognized for being selected to the District VII Senior Honor Band were Hahnville High School students Jennifer Becnel, Jackie Bourg, Lauren Campo, Rochelle Champagne, Ross Champagne, Teresa Dean, Glenn Fahrig, Danielle Gourgues, Brandy Holton, Clifford Hymel, William Keller, Paul Lawrence, Alana Lumar, Charles Lumar, Michael Madere, Craig Matherne, Bobby Osborne, Sandy Sumlin, Melissa Tassin and Logan Thomas. RossChampagne was also selected for the All-State Honor Choir.

Recipients of the High Schools That Work Award of Educational Achievement were Hahnville High School students Heidi Dufrene, Daisy Dunn, Scott Greci, Joby Hogan, James Kokemor, Richard McClendon, Joshua Mills, Angela Odom, Clint Patterson and Heather Ray.

Jonathan Hammett and Michelle Martel, both from Hahnville High School, were honored for receiving the National Council of Teachers of English Award in Writing. Hammett and Traci Kinler from Hahnville High Schoolwere also honored as commended students from the National Merit Scholarship Corp.

A number of teachers from Hahnville High School were recognized for being selected for Who’s Who in American Education. Honored were JosephBinet, Marion Breaux, Susan Chenet, Judith Field, Dell Frickey, Lorel Gonzales, Terrance Hart, Stephanie Ledet, Wanda Melancon, Elizabeth Riggs, William Roe and Jan Thompson.

A number of teachers in the parish were also recognized for being grant recipients. Receiving Learn Grants were J.B. Martin Middle School’s CallyChauvin, April Colley, Nancy Curole, Darlene Guitterrez, Gwen Hitt, Michelle Ruppert, Sara Sims, Matthew Spitz and Sherry Stewart, Allemands Elementary School’s Terry Linder and Carol Touchard, and Central Office’s Ken Farizo. Stephanie Williams of Norco 4-6 ElementarySchool was the recipient of a BellSouth Mini Grant.
