THIBODAUX – Hahnville had its best offensive production of the season but Thibodaux rallied for two late scores to defeat the Tigers, 30-23, Friday night in District 6-5A action.

Thibodaux improved to 2-3 on the season and 1-2 in District 6-5A play.

Hahnville lost its fourth straight game to fall to 1-4 overall and 0-3 in district.

Hahnville, which had been held to 23 points on the season and was shut out by Destrehan last week, gained 282 yards on the night. Dawan Landry,making his second start, completed 11 of his 21 passes for 195 yards and two touchdowns. Mark Young had four catches for 85 yards and two scores.Anthony Kenner led the way on the ground with 38 yards on 11 attempts.

It was the Hahnville special teams that got the first points, however, as the Tigers blocked a punt and Shelby Boyle recovered it for a score. Thekick failed, leaving the score 6-0 Hahnville in the first quarter.

Thibodaux came back with a 5-yard touchdown run by Derrick Coleman.

Blake Leger’s kick gave Thibodaux the lead at 7-6 at the end of the first quarter.

Coleman came back in the second quarter to score on a 30-yard run. Legeragain added the extra point, increasing the lead to 14-6. But Hahnvillecame back as Landry connected with Young on a 30-yard scoring strike.

The try for two failed, leaving the score 14-12 at halftime.

Leger opened the scoring in the second half with a 36-yard field goal.

Hahnville then retook the lead as Landry again combined with Young from 23 yards out. The two added the two-point conversion, giving Hahnville a20-17 lead at the end of the third quarter.

Kerry Fonseca added to that lead in the fourth quarter with a 39-yard field goal, making it 23-17. Coleman answered with a 39-yard touchdown runbut the Hahnville special teams kept the game tied by blocking the extra point attempt.

But Thibodaux would have the final score, a 4-yard pass from Toranza Every to Jeremy Clausen. Leger hit the extra point for a 30-23 lead.Coleman finished the game with 131 yards and three touchdowns on 18 carries. Jermaine Wagner led Thibodaux with 153 yards on 16 attempts asthe Tigers gained 404 yards on the ground.

Hahnville travels to Central Lafourche next Friday while Thibodaux travels to Terrebonne.
