The other day I found myself thinking about how this generation’s youth have reached a point of such chaos. Could it be that the term, “Do as I sayand not as I do,” has been used too frequently by those who have raised this so called generation-X? For example, how can a parent defend the corrupt actions of the leaders of our country one day then expect their children to behave like saints the next.

The Bible says to “bring up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he shall not depart from it.” What happens when a child isn’tdisciplined correctly? I think the answer is obvious. We end up withmurder, drugs and rape, not only in our streets but also in our schools and our homes.

So where does that leave the kids? I believe it is now our turn, as teen- agers, to take responsibility for our own actions.

Proverbs 15:3 says, “The eyes of the Lord are everywhere keeping watch on the wicked and the good.” Whether we like it or not, God knows everythingwe think and do. There is no doubt about it, if we want to receive the giftof eternal life in heaven, we must strive daily to live a righteous life for Jesus. The good news is that the Bible clearly lays out principles by whichwe should live. Proverbs 13:3 says, “He who guards his lips, guards hislife, but he who speaks rashly will come to ruin.” This means that we needto consider what we’re going to say before we say it. The Bible says thateven a fool appears wise when he holds his tongue. Proverbs 15:4 says,”The tongue that brings healing is a tree of life, but a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit.”We also need to consider how we treat our peers. Instead of cutting eachother down, we need to be lifting each other up. In the end, we are going tobe held responsible for how we have lived our lives on earth.

Anybody can waste their time and live just for the passing pleasures of this world. I want to challenge you to live each day to the fullest, and tolive it for Jesus.
