New priest appointed at St. John the Baptist

NEW ORLEANS – Rev. Michael Roberson, who has served as pastor of Sts.Peter and Paul Church in New Orleans for the past four years, has been named pastor of St. John the Baptist parish in Edgard, effective July 3.Several parochial vicar assignments were also announced by the Archdiocesan Chancery Office. They are Rev. John C. Arnone, St. CletusChurch, Gretna; Rev. Jose Roel Lungay, Our Lady of Prompt Succor Church,Chalmette; Rev. Nicholas P. Pericone, St. Mark, Church, Chalmette; Rev.Tuan Anh Pham, Immaculate Conception Church, Marrero; Father Francis Schroeder, S.S.J., Corpus Christi Church, New Orleans; Rev. John-Nhan VanTran, Our Lady of Divine Providence Church, Metairie; and Rev. Joseph ManTran, St. Ann Church, Metairie.Rev. Roberson is a Wisconsin native who completed his seminary studiesthere and was ordained in 1974 for the Archdiocese of New Orleans. Heserved as a parochial vicar at several parishes in New Orleans until 1983 when he received his first pastorale at St. Anthony Church in Barataria.He later served as co-pastor of St. Raphael Church and pastor of St. BrigidChurch before moving to Texas where he was chaplain at a federal prison.

Returning to the New Orleans Archdiocese in 1991, he was assigned as pastor of Holy Family parish in Franklinton prior to his assignment at Sts.

Peter and Paul. Over the years he has also served as chaplain at the St.Paul School in Covington and Redeemer-Seton High School in New Orleans.
