Proverbs 15:13 says,” A happy heart makes the face cheerful, but heartache crushes the spirit.” Below are a few short stories that I hopewill bring a little cheer to your face.

When kids are young, they are so innocent. They take almost everythingthey hear literally, and their imaginations are always running wild.

A few years ago, a friend of our family was driving past the cemetery with her four-year-old daughter. As they drove by, the little girl asked hermom what that place was. When her mom said, “That’s where people gowhen they die,” the child looked at her mother very disappointedly and replied, “Mom, that’s heaven!” One day, my little brother overheard a conversation my aunt was having with my mom. She was explaining that her husband was temporarily tiedup at work. As soon as they were finished talking, my brother, who at thispoint was very worried about his uncle, demanded to know what exactly he was being tied up with.

Our family recently spent some time with my granny who lives Mississippi. During this time she was telling us how one day she forgother purse in a grocery cart. She made the comment that she flew back tothe store before anyone could pick it up. My younger brother looked at herwide-eyed in amazement and asked,” Granny, where did you learn how to fly?” Sunday at church, my mom was standing in the hallway with my three- year-old brother who refused to sit still. He began questioning her abouthell. He wanted to know what is was like. When my mom said that is was avery hot place where people go to when they die if they don’t have a relationship with Jesus, he looked at her nervously and said, “Mom, is it getting a little hot in here?” If you have any questions or comments write to me at straightkids@juno.com or P.O.
