Ervin Craighead is from Garyville and Debbie Craighead is from Reserve. Aftermarriage they compromised by living in LaPlace, where they are now raising three daughters.

Sixteen-year-old Darci attends East St. John High, while 9-year-old Maciattends East St. John Elementary. Five-year-old Kara isn’t yet in school.Presently, Ervin works as a deputy sheriff in the St. John Parish Sheriff’sDepartment and is assigned to the correctional facility. When he got that job hediscontinued his studies at Southeastern Louisiana University, where he was majoring in criminal justice. He plans to finish his studies later.Additionally, Ervin is an ordained minister who attended the Union Theological Bible College and Seminary in New Orleans for four years. A bachelor’s degree intheology will be his after he completes his thesis.

Also, Ervin helps out at home. Actually, he has to because Debbie keeps a hecticschedule as well. So far she has completed four years and three months atSoutheastern and will graduate in May with a degree in liberal arts. Her major is history and English, and even though she isn’t sure which course she will pursue, Debbie believes “somebody, somewhere will give her a job.” She also admits that with family and studies “it has been a hassle.”The couple agrees that Ervin’s cooperation with baby sitting on days off, cooking and cleaning helps their efforts as a family. They do take time out, though, to go out to dinner and to movies and a special treat for the Craighead family is to attend a gospel concert.Back to Top
