LAPLACE – Two armed robbers apparently tried to clean up after a bingo game Saturday night at Our Lady of Grace gymnasium. The pair, afterholding a security guard at gunpoint, made their escape with minimal loot.

Lt. Michael Tregre of the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office reported that a 47-year-old Reserve man, part of a six-person cleanup crew, was wrapping up after the Saturday bingo game at 9:30 p.m.The man had stepped outside and was confronted by two black males, both wearing bandannas over their mouths. One held a chrome-plated handgunand the other had a shotgun.

After robbing the man, they marched him inside where they confronted a 45-year-old LaPlace man who was also an armed security guard.

Tregre said that the guard was ordered to drop his weapon. When the guarddid not respond immediately, the order was repeated, after which the guard ducked for cover as a shot rang out from the handgun-wielder.

The pair then fled on foot with only the minimal amount of loot.

“Some of the people inside didn’t know a robbery was taking place, and when the shot was fired, some thought maybe a chair had been dropped,” Tregre said.

The incident is under investigation. Anyone with information is urged tocall the sheriff’s office.

In another matter, a Reserve man was charged Friday in an Oct. 10 armed robbery incident in St. Charles Parish.Burnell Perrilloux, 22, 114 East 30th St., was charged with being a principal to armed robbery.

Lt. Dwayne LaGrange reported that Perrilloux was booked in connectionwith the robbery of 11 women who were playing cards in a Boutte apartment.

The victims ranged in age from 16 to 54.

In that incident, the women were involved in a friendly card game when two men, each armed with black semiautomatic handguns, broke in at 2:20 a.m. and robbed the group of $600 in cash.Soon afterward, Colin Duhe, 19, 197 East 30th St.; and Travis Frank, 20,142 East 30th St., were charged with the robbery itself. Also, GraylinJackson, 28, 273 Little Hope St., Garyville, was charged as a principal toarmed robbery. Authorities contend he was the getaway driver.Also, Kayyonna N. Haynes, 22, 236 Boutte Projects, was also charged as aprincipal to armed robbery. Authorities contend she had prior knowledge ofthe robbery.
