Local businesswoman running for Parish Council

Lolita Scott Moore, a native of St. John the Baptist Parish and localbusinesswoman, has announced her candidacy for the District 2 seat on the St.

John Parish Council.

“After careful consideration, I have decided to offer myself as a candidate for councilperson for District 2 in St. John the Baptist Parish,” Moore said. “I amthe wife of Hozie L. Moore, and mother of two sons, Stephan and Quentin. I havelived in Reserve most of my life. Also, I am a member of the Greater NewPIymouth Rock Baptist Church, Reserve. I believe my education and experiencewill enable me to be an effective council person.”Moore said she intends to be a full-time councilperson and will be available to all the voters of District 2.

“It’s my goal to serve and meet the needs of my constituents,” she said. “I willensure that the parish’s money will be distributed as required for maintenance of roads, ditches, parks and recreational facilities. I’ll continue my effort tofight for a clean and safe environment, as well as safe railroads crossings.

“Furthermore, I will secure support for the development of proper drainage and sewer systems. Based on our district’s projected economic growth, I ascouncilwoman, accept the challenge to promote our district so it will become a vital part of the economic changes that will affect all members of our community. I am asking all of the residents of District 2 to consider me as theircouncilperson on October 23. Nothing counts like results.”Moore has an associate arts degree in liberal arts from Tulane University. She isalso a certified paralegal, notary public and florist. She attended SouthernUniversity and New Orleans Real Estate School.

She was employed as a general manager with Reeves’ Communications and as paralegal for the Law Office of Leonard Crooks, the Law Office of Lemle and Kelleher and the United States Federal Bankruptcy Court in New Orleans, where she did her internship.

Moore is a member of Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), Tulane Alumni Association, Tulane Paralegal Alumni Association, Tulane Alumni Committee Activities Organization, River Road Historical Commissioner, West St. JohnBooster Club, West St. John Parent Teacher Organization, the Tri-ParishDemocratic Women’s Organization, National League of Women Voters, Louisiana League of Women Voters and the Chapter of New Orleans League of Women Voters.
