St. James man killed in rear-end collision

VACHERIE – A St. James man died in a rear-end collision Saturday, and theother driver was charged with drunken driving.

Other charges are pending against Brian P. Schexnayder, Louisiana StateTrooper Bryan Zeringue reported, and the accident remains under investigation.

A 1991 Oldsmobile Cutlass driven by Clinton C. Jackson, 41, wassouthbound on Louisiana Highway 3127 behind St. James High School whenit was struck from behind.

The Cutlass burst into flames upon impact, and Jackson died at the scene.

The other driver, Schexnayder, 35, of Vacherie, was driving a 1994 Mazda MX6. He and his passenger, Paul S. Barrileaux, 32, also of Vacherie, werewearing seat belts. Schexnayder received no injuries and Barrilleauxreceived minor injuries.
