Holmes named to composite academic volleyball squad

LAPLACE – Ashley Holmes, who led Reserve Christian to the state playoffs in their first year in the Louisiana High School Athletic Association, was also a leader in the classroom as well this past season.

Holmes was one of 18 student-athletes in the state to be named to the LHSAA Composite Academic All-State volleyball team, selected from the players who scored the highest in their respective sport and division.

Holmes and the rest of the composite squad will receive special recognition tonight at the LHSAA-LHSCA Hall of Fame Banquet and Induction ceremonies at the Convention Center of the Radisson Hotel in Baton Rouge.

Holmes, who had a 4.0 grade point average, was also among 192 student-athletes named to the Academic All-State team. To qualify for an All-Academic, All-State team, a student-athlete must have achieved a three- year cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and must have beenselected for at least one all-district honor. Each member school principalis also afforded the opportunity of nominating at least two academically deserving individuals who did not receive all-district honors.

Joining Holmes on the Division V team, which is comprised of Classes A, B and C, were teammates Katie Millet, Beth Dicharry and Kelly McGee. Millethad a GPA of 3.9047 while Dicharry and McGee both achieved GPAs of3.8571.St. Charles Catholic had three players named to the Division IV all-Stateteam. Shannon Dolive had a 3.8181 GPA. Krista Danos achieved a 3.7272GPA while Nicole Rome had a GPA of 3.6190.Lutcher’s Candice Millet made the Division III all-State team with a GPA of 3.6905. Making the honorable mention team were Christie Melanconwith a 3.5476 GPA and Erin Hymel with a GPA of 3.0952.Riverside placed three players on the Division IV honorable mention team.

Courtney St. Amant achieved a GPA of 3.4871. Amanda Roussel had a GPAof 3.4285 while Michelle Millet had a 3.0526 GPA.
