Peggy and Lee Chester Barnes of LaPlace announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, LaDon Catherine Barnes, of Dallas, to Ranu Jackson, son of Margaret Wright of Harvey and Raymond Jackson of Gretna.

The wedding will be solemnized Dec. 11 at Mount Calvary Baptist Church inLaPlace, with the Rev. Freddie Howard officiating. A reception will followat the Magnolia Plantation.

The bride-elect, whose mother is the former Peggy Jean Banks, graduated from Grambling State University where she received a bachelor of arts degree in psychology. She also attened Louisiana Tech in Ruston, where shereceived her master’s degree in business arts. She is employed as arecruiter for Stream International in Dallas.

She is also the granddaughter of Edd Barnes of Jonesboro, the late Oneda Wyatt Barnes and the late Mr. and Mrs. Mattew Banks.The groom, whose mother is the former Margaret Wright, also graduated from Grambling State University where he received a degree in electrical engineering. He is employed by Fujitsu Telecommunications in Dallas.He is also the grandson of Torinto Cooper of Gretna and the late Lillie Rose Wright Cooper, Henritta Jackson and Manual Jackson.

The couple will reside in Dallas.
