BEAN RIVER RIDGE – The Rev. Jesse Bean Jr., 57, a native of Independence andresident of LaPlace for two years, died Sept. 10. He was the husband ofOtta Ruth Bean and father of Sherlyn Miller and Kescha, Le Donna, Shenethia, Wanda, Reginald, Jesse III and Shawn Bean.

He was also the brother of Maeola Irvin, Ruthola Lenoir, Edwina Bean and James and Harry Kimble Jr.

He is also survived by nine grandchildren.

He was the former pastor of Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church in Ponchatoula andMt. Temmer Baptist Church in Independence.Services are today at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Richardson Funeral Home,River Ridge. Burial will be private.

BECNEL VACHERIE – Pamela Granier Becnel, 58, a native of Kraemer and a resident of Vacherie, died Sept. 10. She was the wife of Onezime Becnel and themother of Maureen Rome, Ellen Folse, Melissa Cazanave and Keith Becnel.

She was also the daughter of Dorothy Cortez Granier and the late Dave Granier and sister of Elodie Rome, Romona Folse, Iris Landry, Dorothy Simoneaux, Rosemary Adams, Byron, Oscar and Wilfred and Chester Granier.

She is also survived by eight grandchildren and was preceded in death by one grandchild.

Services were held Sept. 13 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church,Vacherie, with interment at the church mausoleum.

BRADLEY DESTREHAN – C. William Bradley, 88, a native of Covington, longtimeresident of Good Hope and Edgard and a resident of New Orleans, died Sept.

12. He was the husband of Margaret Landry Bradley and father of BridgetMeagher, Margaret Harnett, Adrian Henry and C. William Bradley Jr.He was also the son of the late Charles Thurman Bradley and Alice Duffel Bradley and brother of the late Marguerite Oubre, Marie Champagne and James, Victor Sr. and John Bradley.He is also survived by two grandchildren.

He was a retired 29th Judicial District Judge from 1959 to 1984 and continued as an ad hoc judge until 1993. During World War II, he servedwith the U.S. Tribunal for the Trial of War Crimes in Austria.Services are Sept. 16 at 11 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church,Destrehan, with interment at the church cemetery. Visitation will begintoday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and tomorrow at 9:30 a.m.

ELFER METAIRIE – Ernest Charles “Buster” Elfer Sr., 80, a native of St. Rose and aresident of Metairie for 36 years, died Sept. 11. He was the husband of thelate Margaret McGettigan Elfer and father of Marie Hudson, Margaret Prudhomme, Veronica Gardner and Dorothy and Deacon Ernest Elfer Jr.

He was also the son of the late “Judge” Eugene Sr. and Suzanne FaucheuxElfer and brother of Lois Perilloux and the late Eugene Jr., Harold, Jules,Doris, Donald and Charles Elfer.

He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and was preceded in death by one grandchild and by his aunt, Helen Faucheux.

He was a member of the 156th Infantry Band, where he performed for the Queen of England at Buckingham Palace and at the raising of the American Flag over Berlin before President Harry Truman.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church,Metairie, with interment at St. Charles Borromeo Mausoleum, Destrehan.Visitation begins at 8:30 a.m.

GREGORY ABITA SPRINGS – Pearl Mire Gregory, 76, a native of Union and a resident of Abita Springs for the past 20 years, died Sept. 11. She was the wife ofCamille Gregory and mother of Terrie Truxillo and Kirk Gregory.

She is also survived by two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services were held Sept. 13 at St. Jane de Changal Catholic Church, AbitaSprings, with interment at the Abita Springs Cemetery.

LANDRY METAIRIE – Mary Ann Maurin Landry, 29, former resident of Marksville and a resident of St. John the Baptist Parish, died Sept. 11. She was the wifeof Stephen Landry and mother of Gabrielle and the late baby Landry.

She was also the daughter of Etienne and Mary Maurin and sister of Brenda Granier and Jimmy Maurin.

Services are Sept. 16 at 10 a.m. at Victory Fellowship Church, Metairie,with interment at St. Peter Cemetery, Reserve. Visitation is today from 5to 10 p.m. and tomorrow at 8 a.m.

ROUSSEL CONVENT – Shannon Poche Roussel, 26, a native of Lutcher and a resident of Hester for the past two years, died Sept. 10. She was the wife ofKenneth H. Roussel.She was also the daughter of Ronald and Carolyn Poche and sister of Keith Lawrence and foster sister of Jerri Lynn Keller.

She was also the granddaughter of Dennis and Velma Tassin.

Services were held Sept. 13 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church,Convent, with interment at St. Joseph Mausoleum, Paulina.

SCOTT LULING – Emily Pierre Scott, 66, a native of Luling and a resident of Killona, died Sept. 8. She was the wife of the late Bernard Scott andmother of Katherine Isaac, Lynell Schexnayder and Darnell, Bernard Jr.,Vercy, Gregory and Christopher Scott.

She was also the daughter of the late Rev. Louis and Bernice Tassin Pierreand sister of Florence Ewens, Janet Williams, Ethel Sandolph and Percy Sr., John Sr., Claude Sr., Edward and Bernard Pierre.She is also survived by 18 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Services were held Sept. 13 at St. Mary Baptist Church, Luling, withinterment at Holy Rosary Cemetery, Taft.

TRICHE AMA – Trenell “Tudy” Trenise Triche, 26, a native and resident of Ama, died Sept. 8. She was the daughter of Eldridge and Sherron Triche andsister of Trina, Tracy, Terrell, Tyrus, Troy and Trent Triche.

She was also the granddaughter of Alma Triche, Irving Sr. and EvelynPierre.

Services were held Sept. 13 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Ama, withinterment at Mt. Pilgrim Cemetery, Ama.

WASHINGTON NEW ORLEANS – Lois Theresa Washington, a native of St. James and aresident of New Orleans for 51 years, died Sept. 11. She was the wife ofJames Washington Sr. and mother of Patricia Garza, Yolanda Jackson andWanda, Crystal, Toyja, James Jr. and Howard Washington.She was also the daughter of the late Louis and Marie Allen and sister of Dorothy Scineaux, Louise Colomb, Marie Calvey, Joseph Allen, and the late Irene Mansion, Lillian Williams, Marion Haydel and Louis Allen Jr.

She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services are today at 10 a.m. at St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church,with interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation begins at 8:30 a.m.
