BOUTTE – With Fontainebleau pitcher Lindsay Warrenfeltz holding Hahnville in check in the Hahnville Lady Tigers Tournament Saturday morning, Lady Tiger leadoff hitter Erin Crisham did what she has done so often in her high school career – create a scoring opportunity.
Crisham stole second and third and scored on a throwing error in the bottom of the sixth, giving Hahnville a 1-0 victory in the Lady Tigers’ season opener.
The Lady Tigers (1-2) went on to drop two one-run decisions in the tournament, 9-8 to Dominican and 2-1 against St. Charles Catholic.Warrenfeltz had pitched superbly in the first game, allowing just one base runner through the first five innings while striking out six. But with two outsin the bottom of the sixth, Crisham walked on a full count and stole second with Kacy Petit at the plate. On the second pitch to Petit, Crisham broke forthird. Catcher Margaret Patterson’s throw sailed high, allowing Crisham toscore and giving the Lady Tigers a 1-0 lead.
The game was called at that point due to the time limit.
Hahnville starter Angela Raziano (1-0) matched Warrenfeltz inning for inning to pick up the victory. Raziano allowed three hits while walking five andstriking out five.
Raziano pitched out of a bases loaded jam in the first inning. Pattersonwalked to lead off the game, went to second on a sacrifice by Jessica Rigsby and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Allison Looper followed with a walk andstole second. Warrenfeltz struck out but Tarin Doubt walked to load thebases. Raziano then got out of the inning by getting Meghan Vercher toground out to Courtnie Frickey at second.
Fontainebleau again threatened in the fourth. With one out, Vercher walkedand was sacrificed to second by Allison Reeves. Michelle Hall then singled toleft, sending Vercher to third. Laura Henry followed with a chopper in frontof the plate that spun fair. Third baseman Lindsey Yochim charged in andthrew a strike to first, nipping Henry to end the inning.
Crisham became the first Hahnville baserunner in the bottom half of the inning by getting hit by a pitch from Warrenfeltz. Petit sacrificed her tosecond but Crisham was left stranded as warrenfeltz got Frickey and Colleen Lockhart to ground out to second.
Petit battled the wind and made a basket catch of Warrenfeltz’s fly ball to center with two outs and a runner on in the fifth inning. Doubt led off thesixth with a single but was doubled up as Frickey made a shoe string catch of Vercher’s liner to second. Raziano then struck out Reeves to end the inning.
