CORNELIUS NEW ORLEANS – Morene Louis Cornelius Sr., 70, a native of Vacherie andresident of Westwego for 28 years, died Jan. 25. He was the husband ofCatherine E. Cornelius and father of Cheryl Trotter, Andrea Taylor andRonald and Morene Cornelius Jr.

He was also the brother of Doretha Tilquit, Eva Smith, Anna Mae Turner and Clarence, Raynard and LeGrant Cornelius.

He is also survived by six grandchildren.

Services are today at 11 a.m. in the chapel of D.W. Rhodes Funeral Home,New Orleans, with interment at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, Vacherie.

Visitation starts at 9 a.m.

GRIFFIN BOUTTE – Louise M. Griffin, 79, a resident of Paradis, died Jan. 25. She wasthe wife of George Griffin Jr. and mother of Cynthia Harris.She was also the daughter of the late Richard and Victoria Morbley and sister of Viola Morbley.

She is also survived by two grandchildren.

Services were held Jan. 28 at Mt. Airy Baptist Church, Boutte, withinterment at First Baptist Cemetery, Paradis.

HARRISON GRETNA – Alvin Noel Harrison Jr., 64, a native of Vacherie and resident ofGretna for 58 years, died Jan. 22. He was the husband of Henrietta GreenHarrison and father of Angela Garibaldi and Gaynell, Alvin III, Darrell, Rodney, Aaron Sr. and the late Kevin Harrison.He was also the son of the late Alvin Sr. and Shirley Jasmin Harrison andbrother of Ann Batiste, Susan Hebert, Joyce McGee, Hazel Shakir, Kasib Hakeem and Louis Sr., Clyde Sr., Ronald Sr., Raymond Sr., Phillip Sr., RobertSr., William and Bobbie Harrison.He is also survived by 11 grandchildren.

Services were held Jan. 27 in the chapel of D.W. Rhodes Funeral Home,Gretna, with interment at Restlawn Park Cemetery.

HEURTIN HAHNVILLE – Gail Margaret Heurtin, 54, a native of Donaldsonville and resident of Paradis, died Jan. 24. She was the wife of Gary Heurtin and step-mother of Karen, Kyla and Ken Heurtin.

She was also the daughter of the late Foster and Vivian Daigle Gomez and sister of Jackie Chiquet, Dorothy LeGleu, Cathy, Dolores Richardson, Joyce Vienne and Barney, Jeffrey, Kenneth, Wayne, Keith, Foster Jr., Troy and thelate Rodney Gomez.

She is also survived by one step-grandchild.

Services were held Jan. 26 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Hahnville, withinterment at the church cemetery, Taft.

WHITE PINE BLUFF, Ark. – Rodney Alan White Sr., 34, a native of Pine Bluff, Ark.,and resident of LaPlace, died Jan. 8. He was the husband by first marriage ofJacquelyn Williams and by second marriage of Jacqueline White, father of Rodney White Jr. and step-father of Jacinda Davis, Jassmeun Hall and Justenand Jeremiah Davis.

He was also the son of Elnora Harris White and the late John Lewis “Bob” White and brother of Vincent McGuire.

He was a letterman football player at Arkansas State University and teacher at West St. John High School.Services were held Jan. 15 in the chapel of P.K. Miller Mortuary, Pine Bluff,Ark., with interment at Miller Memorial Cemetery.

WILLIAMS NEW ORLEANS – Beverly Gauthier Williams, 64, a native of Wallace and resident of New Orleans for 42 years, died Jan. 23. She was the mother ofDebbie Fernandez, Christi Robert and Donna, Tami, Curry and Marlon Williams.

She was also the sister of Barbara Ann Gauthier, Sandra Sylvain, Donald, Therald, Abraham Jr., Kebin Adams, Ranaldo Gauthier and the late RosemarieJohnson and Raymond Adams.

She is also survived by nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services are today at noon at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, New Orleans,with interment at St. Philip Catholic Church Cemetery, Vacherie. Visitationstarts at 10:30 a.m.

YOUNG LIONS – Earl “Turk” Young Jr., 63, a native of Plaquemine and resident ofReserve, died Jan. 20. He was the father of Loretta, Jessica, Earl III, Alton,Anthony and Michael Young.

He was also the brother of Hazel Miles, Francis Anderson, Janet Nolan, Betty, Mary, Alex, Louis, Irvin, Edward and Alvin Cook, Frank, Roy and Ray Williams, Gerald Mickens and Loretta, Patricia, Don and Carl Young.

He is also survived by 10 grandchildren.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at Zion Travelers Baptist Church, Lions, withinterment at the church cemetery.
