CARTER HITS DOUBLE FIGURES IN UNO’S SUN BELT VICTORY – NEW ORLEANS – University of New Orleans junior guard Keeshawn Carter, an East St. John grad, scored 11 points in the Privateers’ 79-63 victory overArkansas-Little Rock Saturday at Alltel Arena.

The win improved UNO to 7-7 overall and 3-1 in Sun Belt Conference play. Itwas the Privateers’ third straight victory, all on the road. UALR fell to 4-10overall and 1-3 in conference play.

It was the third straight game Carter has scored in double figures. She was4-of-8 from the field, including 1-of-3 from 3-point range, and 2-of-2 from the free throw line. She also had five rebounds, one assist, one steal and didnot commit a turnover in 28 minutes of action.

For the season, Carter is the Privateers’ third-leading scorer, averaging 9.4points per game in 12 games and four starts. She has averaged 16 pointsover the last three games. UNO is 6-1 when she shoots 50 percent from thefield or higher.

MEALEY SCORES IN SENIOR BOWL – MOBILE, Ala. – Destrehan High and LSUgrad Rondell Mealey was able to show off his dancing skills at the Senior Bowl Saturday afternoon.

Mealey, the Tigers’ sixth all-time leading rusher, scored the South’s first points in the second quarter on a 4-yard run. Mealey capped the score with adance in the end zone. He finished with 15 yards on four carries and alsocaught two passes for 10 yards.

The North rallied in the second half for a 24-21 victory with Michigan State’s Paul Edinger kicking a 28-yard field goal with 5:15 left for the winning score.
