NEW ORLEANS – Noel Raymond Miller, 48, was indicted by a federal grand jury on three counts of bank robbery, including the May 22 robbery of Hibernia Bank in St. Rose, where he made off with $1,950.If convicted, Miller faces up to 20 years in prison for each count.

Miller was captured at the New Orleans International Airport after an alert witness trailed him from the bank and into the airport until capture.

U.S. Attorney Eddie Jordan Jr. added that Miller is also charged with theMay 19 robbery of the Omni Bank, 2900 Ridge Lake, Metairie, (where he made off with $2,590) and the May 22 robbery of the Hibernia Bank, 1227 Tulane Ave., New Orleans (where he made off with $3,910).All three banks are insured by the Federal Depositors Insurance Corp.

(FDIC), providing federal jurisdiction, Jordan said.

Miller was previously convicted on Nov. 30, 1992, of bank robbery in SanFrancisco and sentenced to 108 months in the Bureau of Prisons on May 5, 1993.

He was released and told to report to a halfway house, but never showed, and was then considered an escapee as of May 10.

Miller has charges pending in San Francisco for bank robbery and in New Jersey for escape and two counts of bank robbery.

Prosecution will be handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Melissa A.Buckhalter.
