Zeringue signs with Chipola

LAPLACE – Jessie Zeringue and Tanya Teague faced each other often when they played for St. Charles Catholic and Riverside, respectively. Now the twowill be teammates at Chipola College for the 2001 season.
Zeringue joined Teague at the Marianna, Fla. school recently, signing ascholarship with Chipola. Teague, a former all-State player with the Rebels,had signed with Chipola last June.
Zeringue was the District 9-3A MVP in 2000, leading the Lady Comets to a second place finish in the district and an appearance in the Class 3A bi- district playoffs. She batted .345 as a senior with 22 runs batted in and a.529 slugging percentage. Zeringue played in the Louisiana High SchoolCoaches Association Softball All-Star doubleheader Saturday at LSU’s Tiger Field.
“I went up there on a visit and I liked the campus,” Zeringue, who said Teague threw batting practice to her on the visit, said. “I met with the girls on theteam. It’s a small school and it has a good softball program.”
