LAPLACE – A 22-year-old LaPlace man was killed in a motorcycle accident early Tuesday morning in the Riverlands subdivision.

According to authorities, the accident occurred in the 500 block of Greenwood Drive around 2:30 a.m. Christopher Kropog, 736 Lafayette St., LaPlace, was traveling eastboundon Greenwood Drive when he apparently lost control of his motorcycle and smashed into a utility pole.

St. John Parish coroner Dr. Christy Montegut was called, and he declaredKropog dead on the scene.

“He was wearing a motorcycle helmet,” said Capt. Mike Tregre of the St.John Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Tregre said the investigation into the cause of the accident is still ongoing.
