Christmas shopping launches after holiday

LAPLACE – Some go to work off the Thanksgiving meal, and others go just toget away from the in-laws. Who knows where the tradition got started, butdo you know where you’re shopping the day after Thanksgiving?Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, has become the most heavily shoppeddays of the year. For some reason people finish with their Thanksgivingfeasts and turn their attention to the next holiday, Christmas.

Just to get you informed so you can beat the rush, here’s the low-down onwhen the doors are opening and what’s on sale locally this Friday.

Wal-Mart will be closed all of Thanksgiving day in preparation for Friday. Thedoors will be open for business at 6 a.m. sharp ready for the shopping spreethat will ensue. For five hours, until 11 a.m., certain items, from everydepartment in the store, will be specially marked down. As the clock strikes11 the special items will return to their regular sale price and join all theother bargains on sale both Friday and Saturday.

The doors to K-Mart will be open on Thanksgiving day , but only from 7 a.m.

to 8 p.m. At eight o’clock the doors will be locked tight as prices are loweredfor the next morning. At 6 a.m. the doors will reopen, and from 6 to 11 a.m.

select items from jewelry, toys, small appliances, luggage, electronics,sporting goods and pretty much every other department will be on sale.

After the five-hour special sale the prices will return to the regularThanksgiving sale prices going on from Thursday to Saturday.

Sears will hold a Thanksgiving sale on Friday. From 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. doors willbe open, with a special sale going on from opening to 11 a.m. At that time,select tools will be half price and appliances and electronics will be speciallymarked for sale. Everything bought with the Sears card on Friday will also bepurchased at zero percent financing until December. Many items will also beon sale through Saturday.

At Roussel’s Antiques & Gifts & Jewelry storewide specials abound. Withdiscounts on jewelry to furniture, flower and wreath arrangements, nearlyeverything in the whole store comes at a holiday sale price. Closed onThanksgiving, Roussel’s is open from 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Friday.

The doors at Stage Department Store will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Thanksgiving day. On Friday the store will be open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.

So whatever the reason for you’re joining in the shopping fray, special dealsmay be found at your favorite local stores come Friday.
