BECNEL

VACHERIE – Ruby Edith Haydel Becnel, 71, a native of Wallace and resident of New Orleans for 53 years, died Oct. 7. She was the wife of the late Albert J.Becnel Sr. and mother of Gail Williams, Michelle Davis, Ursula Brent and Kerryand Albert Becnel Jr.

She was also the daughter of the late Dalton and Priscilla Haydel and stepsister of Oralee Ferchaud, Gilda Marshall, Mary Ann Burrell, Linda Pierce and Theophile, Roger, Murray and Jerry Haydel.

She is also survived by eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services were Oct. 11 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, South Vacherie,with interment at the church cemetery.

BREWER

KENNER – David Leroy Brewer, 64, a native of Bogalusa and resident of Destrehan for 33 years, died Oct. 10. He was the husband of Mildred BeardBrewer and father of David Lee Brewer.

He was also the son of the late Iley J. and Lessie May Carney Brewer andbrother of Carson Brewer and the late Dorothy May Brook.

Services are today at 10 a.m. in the chapel of L.A. Muhleisen & Son FuneralHome, Kenner. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.

CARTER

NORCO – Evelyn H. Carter, 77, a resident of LaPlace, died Oct. 10. She wasthe wife of the late Earl Carter and mother of Margaret Terry, Edna Simmons, Ruby Parker, Ethel Ross, Helen Johnson, Ivory Watkins, Mary Campbell, Erma Edwards, Don, Eddie and Ella Dee Carter and the late Patsy Lawson.

She was also the daughter of the late Willie Sr. and Lillian Fenroy Harris andsister of the late Earl Smith, Alexander Sirs, Ethel Bailey, Edna Williams and Willie Harris.

She is also survived by 32 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at Greater Good Hope Baptist Church, Norco,with interment at Montz Memorial Park. Visitation starts at 10 a.m.

HANEY

HAHNVILLE – Elizabeth “Betty” Haney, 70, a native of Hahnville and resident of New Orleans, died Oct. 7. She was the mother of Andrea Hewitt andReynolder, Erroll, Barrett, Barry and the late Faith and Eugene Haney.

She was also the daughter of Ruth Austin Mayfield and the late Jessie Carter.

She is also survived by five grandchildren.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at True Vine Baptist Church, Hahnville, withinterment at Bethelem Baptist Cemetery, Hahnville. Visitation starts at 10a.m.

HEBERT

HARLEM, Ga. – D. Kathryn Thigpen Hebert, 72, a native of Warren County,Ga., and resident of Harlem, died Oct. 7. She was the wife of the late ElmerA. Hebert and mother of Clifford Hebert of LaPlace, Gail Dye, Kathy JoMayfield, Cindy Brown and Vicki Dailey.

She is also survived by nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services were Oct. 10 in the chapel of Starling Funeral Home, Harlem, withinterment at Bellevue Memorial Gardens, Grovetown, Ga.

HOOPER

KENNER – Iris Rita Schexnayder Hooper, a native of Gramercy and resident of Metairie for the past 46 years, died Oct. 11. She was the wife of Marion J.Hooper and mother of Irita Angelico and Walter Hooper.

She was also the sister of Rogerie Laurent and the late Liesel Abadie.

She is also survived by two grandchildren.

Services were Oct. 13 in the chapel of L.A. Muhleisen & Son Funeral Home,Metairie, with interment at Garden of Memories Cemetery.

ROBERT

GARYVILLE – Mariam “Mim” Troxclair Champagne Robert, 76, a native and resident of Mt. Airy, died Oct. 8. She was the wife by first marriage of thelate Irving P. Champagne and by second marriage of Hewitt “Jap” Robert,mother of Dianne “De” Bourgeois, Paula Ann Heltz, Paul and Larry “Specks” Champagne and stepmother of Loretta Webre and Pat, Lida and Willie Robert.

She was also the daughter of the late Marcel and Josepha Troxclair and sister of Adlice Waguespack, Bessie Poche and Sherman and Davis Troxclair.

She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Services were Oct. 13 at St. Hubert Catholic Church, Garyville, withinterment at St. Peter Cemetery, Reserve.

SAVOIE

EDGARD – Gwendolyn Henry Savoie, 57, a native of Reserve and resident of Edgard for many years, died Oct. 8. She was the wife of Jerry Savoie andmother of Derek Savoie.

She was also the daughter of Julia Henry and the late Junius Henry Sr. andsister of Priscilla Morgan, Theresa “Reese” Gibson and Albert and Junius Henry Jr.

She is also survived by one grandchild.

Services are today at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church,Edgard, with interment at the church cemetery. Visitation starts at 8 a.m.

VICKNAIR

RESERVE – Glenda Louque Vicknair, 61, a native of Paulina and resident of Reserve for 35 years, died Oct. 10. She was the wife of the late Everett”Badine” Vicknair and mother of Kenneth and Keith Vicknair.

She was also the daughter of the late Logan and Ina Marie Roper Louque and sister of Warren, Logan and Richard Louque.

Services were Oct. 13 at St. Peter Catholic Church, Reserve, with intermentat the church cemetery.
