BAUDOUIN
BAYOU GAUCHE – Aleitha Baudouin, 62, a native of Raceland and resident of Hahnville for 42 years, died Oct. 22. She was the wife of John Baudouin andmother of Fay Spurgeon and Melinda Boudouin.
She was also the daughter of the late Mike and Orelia Bourgeois Dunn and sister of Katie Folse, Mayola Daigle, Lorina Horn, Jessie, John and Roy Dunn and the late Lydia Dufresne and James and Ormond Dunn.
She is also survived by four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services were held Oct. 24 at Assembly of God Church, Bayou Gauche, withinterment at Sunset Cemetery, Bayou Gauche.
BROOKS
LAPLACE – Charles D. Brooks, 74, a native of Texas, former resident ofLaPlace from 1963 to 1979, and resident of Destrehan for 11 years, died Oct. 22. He was the husband of Jeannine Norris Brooks and father of LindaSimmons, David and Steven Brooks and the late Jeannie Marie Brooks.
He is also survived by five grandchildren: Brittany, Mallory and Candice Brooks, and Clay and Tyler Simmons.
He was a World War II veteran, a retiree from Dupont after 38 years, a long- time member of Riverlands Country Club and an avid LSU Tiger fan.
Services are today at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Millet-Guidry Funeral Home,LaPlace, with interment at St. John Memorial Gardens, LaPlace. Visitationstarts at 11 a.m.
BROWN
NORCO – Melvin Brown, a resident of Montz, died Oct. 17. He was the husbandof Alberta Brown and father of Audrey Shorts, Mary Breaux, Carolyn Brown, and the late Linda Augillard.
He was also the brother of Johnny Brown.
He is also survived by six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services were held Oct. 23 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Norco,with interment at St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery, Destrehan.
CALDARERA
VACHERIE – Laurence Tregre Caldarera, 80, a native of Wallace and resident of Vacherie for 10 years, died Oct. 23. She was the wife of Louis Caldareraand mother of Louis, Ralph, Stephen and James Caldarera and the late Carol and Catherine Caldarera.
She was also the daughter of the late Willie and Blanche Tregre and sister of the late Ada Laiche, Anna Hymel, Rosa Henry, Eva Weber and Willie, Harold, Richard and Lena Tregre.
She is also survived by 10 grandchildren.
Services are today at 2 p.m. at St. Philip Catholic Church, Vacherie, withinterment at the church cemetery. Visitation starts at noon.
CANDIES
DES ALLEMANDS – Shelley St. Amant Candies, 39, a native of Des Allemandsand resident of Luling, died Oct. 20. She was the mother of Jordan EmmaCandies.
She was also the daughter of Margie Cortez St. Amant and the late GeraldSt. Amant and sister of Gordon, Kent, Vernon and Marty “Red” St. Amant.Services were held Oct. 23 at St. Gertrude Catholic Church, Des Allemands,with interment at the church cemetery.
CARPENTER
METAIRIE – Rosalie Sagona Carpenter, 89, a native of Garyville, former resident of New Orleans and resident of Garyville, died Oct. 21. She was thewife of the late Richard N. Carpenter and stepmother of Sylvia Ryan, DavidCarpenter and the late James Carpenter.
She was also the daughter of the late Salvadore and Vita Bella Sagona and sister of the late Fano, Louis, Salvadore, Frank, Mamie, Katie and Vita Sogona and Anna Navarra.
Services were held Oct. 24 in the chapel of Lamana-Panno-Fallo FuneralHome, Metairie, with interment at Metairie Cemetery.
CAVALIER
LAPLACE – Ethel Hatfield Cavalier, 67, a native of Garyville and resident of Norco for 48 years, died Oct. 20. She was the wife of E.J. Cavalier andmother of Wanda Powe and Jewel Watts Jr.
She was also the daughter of the late Thomas and Army Hatfield and sister of Elsie Montz and Thomas Hatfield Jr.
She is also survived by four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services were held Oct. 23 in the chapel of Millet-Guidry Funeral Home,LaPlace, with interment at St. John Memorial Gardens, LaPlace.
CAVALIER
KENNER – Geroge Joseph Cavalier, 60, a native of Donaldsonville and resident of Destrehan for 34 years, died Oct. 21. He was the husband of Mary “Fay”Dufrene and father of Laura and Nicole Cavalier.
He was also the son of Twilla Josephine Acosta and brother of Dorothy Delhom, Gwendolyn Deroche and Larry Cavalier.
Services were held Oct. 24 in the chapel of L.A. Muhleisen and Son FuneralHome, Kenner, with interment at St. Louis No. 3 Cemetery, New Orleans.
CHAMPAGNE
DES ALLEMANDS – Clarence J. Champagne, 84, a native of Boutte andresident of Des Allemands, died Oct. 22. He was the husband of ClaudiaBergeron Champagne and father of Shirley LeBlanc.
He was also the son of the late James and Alice Lirette Champagne and brother of Gladys Trauth, Mabel Schaubhut and Milton Champagne and the late Wilbert Champagne.
He is also survived by one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.
Services are today at 10 a.m. at Des Allemands Mennonite Church, withinterment at the church cemetery. Visitation starts at 8 a.m.
CLARK
GRAMERCY – Reginald G. Clark, 78, a native of Gramercy and resident of PortAllen, died Oct. 19. He was the husband of Lacy B. Clark, father of ShirleyNorton, Zedra Thomas and Reginald Jr., Ronald and Kevin Clark andstepfather of Willie Scott, Francheska Williamston and Jon Pierre Tillman.
He was also the son of the late Henry Sr. and Viola S. Clark and brother ofCassie Hayes, C.J. Clark and the late Czerta Pierce, Sarah Williams and Neil,Horlis and Henry Clark Jr.
He is also survived by 25 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and retired from Colonial Sugars after 50 yearsof service.
Services were held Oct. 24 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church,Gramercy, with interment at Western Cemetery, Gramercy.
DUFRENE
DES ALLEMANDS – Marie Vial “Aunt Chut” Dufrene, 88, a resident of Des Allemands, died Oct. 20. She was the wife of the late Jesse F. Dufrene.She was also the daughter of the late Richard J. Sr. and Josepha Hymel Vialand sister of Josepha Delaune, Harry “Peter” Sr., Irving “Eph” Sr., and thelate Richard Jr., Leo Sr., Dennis Sr., Clarence and Sidney Vial Sr.She was a teacher in St. Charles Parish Schools from 1931 to 1974.Services were held Oct. 24 at St. Gertrude Catholic Church, Des Allemands,with interment at the church cemetery.
JACOB
GONZALES – Esther Frederick “Ta-Ta” Jacob, 88, a native of Paulina and resident of Gonzales, died Oct. 22. She was the wife of the late Malus J.Jacob and mother of Janelle Breaux, Sylvia Bazile, Debra Savoy and Roland Sr., Linden Huey “Gerald” Sr. and Eugene Jacob.She was also the daughter of the late Albert Sr. and Anoncia LaicheFrederick and sister of Julie Massie. She was preceded in death by threesisters and four brothers.
She is also survived by 35 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Services are today at 11 a.m. at St. Mark Catholic Church, Gonzales, withinterment at Holy Rosary Cemetery, Gonzales. Visitation starts at 8 a.m.
LACOSTE
LAPLACE – Marguerite M. Lacoste, 78, a native of New Orleans and residentof LaPlace for 13 years, died Oct. 20. She was the daughter of the lateAndre and Loretto Lazare Lacosta and sister of Andrea and Andre Lacoste, and the late Emile Lacoste.
Services are today at 10 a.m. at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church,LaPlace, with interment at St. John Memorial Gardens, LaPlace. Visitationstarts at 8 a.m.
MOTHERSHEAD
METAIRIE – Sarah Elaine Christensen Mothershead, 54, a native of McKenzie, Ala., former resident of St. Charles Parish for most of her life and residentof Covington for three years, died Oct. 21. She was the mother of Jerry Jr.,Thomas and Carol Kerr.
She was also the daughter of the late Edward and Wilma Eddins Mothershed and sister of Sharon Strole, Diane Sarchet and Paul Mothershead.
Graveside services were held Oct. 24 at Garden of Memories Cemetery,Metairie.
MOTON
PLAQUEMINE – Ernest “Pee Wee” Moton Jr., a native of Plaquemine andresident of Reserve, died Oct. 15. He was the brother of Ophelia, Paul andJoseph Moton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and a brother.
Services were held Oct. 21 at Greater Little Zion Baptist Church, Plaqueminewith interment at Roscoe Memorial Cemetery.
PETIT
HAHNVILLE – Leander Joseph Petit, 72, a native and resident of Hahnville, died Oct. 21. He was the husband of Betty Foret Petit and father of StacieFalgout and Kevin Petit.
He was also the son of the late Frederick and Johnise Troxler Petit and brother of Betty Tassin He is also survived by three grandchildren.
Services were held Oct. 23 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Hahnville, withinterment at St. Charles Cemetery, Luling.
WINTERS
LAPLACE – Warren L. Winters Sr., 66, a native of New Orleans and residentof LaPlace for 30 years, died Oct. 21. He was the husband of Eveline Wintersand father of George Berthelot, Mickey Metzler, Warren Jr. and WanitaWinters and the late Danielle Pugh.
He is also survived by nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services were held Oct. 24 in the chapel of Millet-Guidry Funeral Home,LaPlace, with interment at St. John Memorial Gardens, LaPlace.
