ST. JAMES – Keisha Rapp is a focused student. Intent on getting the best outof education, she works hard for herself as well as others.

Since ninth grade Keisha, daughter of Nathaniel and Rose Rapp Sr., hasworked to maintain a 4.0 grade point average and tutors her fellow studentsas well.

First she tutored through her church as a side job.

“Now people just knock at the door and ask ‘can you help me with me math?’,” said Rapp.

In high school her motto is to get the best of what the school has to offer.

She is active in the 4-H Club and Beta Club and is a member of the student council. She was voted president of the senior class and is a majorette.Along with her other senior classmates, Rapp is helping to plan a student/parent prom.

“It’s a chance to get the parents and students together and get the parents more involved in the school,” said Rapp.

Interested in chemistry, Rapp plans to attend Xavier University in New Orleans and study to be a pharmacist.

On the weekends Rapp finds pleasure in working as a tour guide at Oak Alley Plantation.

“It’s fun talking and interacting with people and giving the history of our parish,” said Rapp.

She takes pride in a St. James High education.”The teachers really want to help you beyond their normal duties,” said Rapp.

“If you need extra help they will try the hardest to get you what you need.”Getting the best out of her high school experience, Rapp advises freshmen to do the same. The most important thing for freshmen is to try to getadjusted to high school as quickly as possible.

Participating in extra-curricular activities, clubs and other school events can help freshmen meet new people and get adjusted what the school has to offer them.

Most importantly, she said, “Focus on learning. It starts in the ninth gradeand counts more and more as you proceed.”
