Area men invited to walk for Christ This Saturday, May 26, the Christian men of the River Region are extending an invitation to all the men of the area to participate in a “1,000-Man March.” They believe that through prayer and repentance, they can become a godly influence which will affect every home, all churches and their community. Why men? Because research shows that much of the domestic and social violence in our nation can be traced directly to the absence of men in the lives of the family, particularly fathers. A fatherless family is the curse of our day. The Bible teaches us that men are the backbone of the family. In the Book of Malachi, God promised us that before the coming of the Lord, He will send a voice, calling fathers to turn to their children. Malachi 4:5-6 reads: “Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord. And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.” All men, ages 12 and above, are invited to stand in the gap for all families and their communities. Everyone is asked to wear a white shirt. Since it will probably be a hot day, wear something comfortable. The march will begin at East St. John High School and end at the Percy Hebert Building. It will begin at 10 a.m., sharp. The goal of the gathering is to spark a spiritual revival in the River Region, which could ultimately bring healing to our land. I would like to commend the men responsible for organizing the “1,000-Man March.” I pray many will respond to the call. I’ll be there.
