ESJ takes two over weekend

RESERVE – East St. John remained undefeated in District 7-5A play with a 59-31 victory over Central Lafourche Friday night.
The Lady Cats, who clinched the district title the previous Tuesday at Destrehan, improved to 11-0 in district and 27-3 overall. East St. John closed out the district schedule at South Lafourche Tuesday night.
Central Lafourche fell to 17-11 overall and 5-5 in district.
East St. John jumped out to a 14-4 first quarter lead and led 26-15 at the break.
Kinya Lennix scored a game-high 11 points for the Lady Cats. Velinda Ard and Raeonda Jasper each had 10 points.
East St. John went on to defeat Ridgewood, 62-51, in the Hall of Fame Classic Saturday night. Lennix again led the way with 18 points. Danielle Stemley added 14.

Hahnville 70, Thibodaux 27

BOUTTE – Cashmire White had a game-high 25 points as Hahnville cruised to a 70-27 District 7-5A victory over Thibodaux Friday night.
The Lady Tigers remained in a second-place tie with Destrehan in the district with a 7-3 record while improving to 15-11 overall. Those two teams met Tuesday night at Hahnville. Thibodaux fell to 0-24 overall and 0-9 in district.
Hahnville did not trail in the game, jumping ahead 25-3 at the end of the first quarter and 47-13 at the break.
Elizabeth Landry added 14 points for the Lady Tigers.

Lutcher 81, St. Charles Catholic 46

LUTCHER – Lutcher pulled away with a 20-9 second quarter run to take an 81-46 victory over St. Charles Catholic in District 9-3A play Friday night.
Lutcher remained in third place in the district with a 4-3 record and moved to 14-18 overall. St. Charles Catholic fell to 1-5 in district and 5-19 overall.
Lutcher led 18-15 at the end of the first quarter but moved ahead to a 38-24 lead at the break and 61-36 at the end of the third quarter.
Keneeka Taylor had 14 points for the Lady Bulldogs. Jauntrell Williams and Jessica Williams each added 12 points.
Heather Heltz led St. Charles Catholic with 12 points. Amanda Helm chipped in with 10.

Riverside 56, Fisher 12

Riverside held Fisher to six points in each half in taking a 56-12 District 9-2A victory at Fisher Friday night. The Lady Rebels moved to 15-11 overall and 7-3 in district. Fisher dropped to 4-13 overall and 1-9 in district.
Riverside led 21-2 at the end of the first quarter and 29-6 at halftime.
Wendy Reames led all scorers with 14 points. Crystal Rome added 12 points and Heidi Richard seven.
